If I hit the copy to clipboard button and past into notepad, I get nothing. the box where the seed should be is blank.

In order to do that you need a TIS passcode which is made from VIN and a SEED code you get from Techstream. I tried erasing one of my original keys and reregistering it, that process worked fine (so I know I'm doing the registration process correctly).
